Ski Winter Park

Winter Park, known as "Colorado's Favorite," is strategically located next to the Continental Divide and receives an average of more than 359 inches of snow annually – more than any other major Colorado resort.

Twenty-one lifts access 134 trails on 2,762 acres. Winter Park Mountain offers wide-open cruising trails, award-winning beginner terrain and family-friendly facilities. A radically different culture prevails at Mary Jane. Named after a notorious lady of the evening, "the Jane" has trails that are long, steep, and planted with mega moguls--ranked #1 for bumps by Skiing Magazine.

Summer at the Park features 50 miles of lift-served mountain bike trails, an Alpine Slide, human maze, hiking trails, a Mini-Golf course, the Leaps & Bounds Bungee, indoor and outdoor climbing walls, Zip Line and outdoor dining.

  • General Information - As provided by the resort:

    Air Service to Resort:

A short 1.5 to 2 hour drive, Denver International Airport (DIA) is the closest airport to Winter Park Resort. All major carriers service DIA.

Home James Shuttle Service runs daily ground transfers between DIA and Winter Park. Once in Winter Park, "The Lift" free shuttle system transports guests between Winter Park Resort and the towns of Winter Park and Fraser. A car is not necessary, however some guests feel more comfortable driving themselves.

    Other Transportation Options:

Train - Amtrak's California Zephyr line makes two stops daily in the Town of Fraser, only two miles from Winter Park Resort.

    Common Misperceptions:

Misperception #1 - Because Winter Park is so close to Denver, it must be crowded with Denver skiers.

The Truth - Winter Park is the closest major resort to Denver. It does see a fairly large number of Denver skiers on the weekends, but because it is one of the largest resorts in Colorado and has the second highest lift capacity of any resort in Colorado, we're able to move a lot of people around the mountain in a short period of time. Guests might encounter a short wait in the morning at our main lifts from the base, but once up on the mountain they won't notice a thing.

    Misperception #2 - Winter Park is a "beginner's area."

The Truth - Winter Park is a great place for beginners. We consistently have one of the highest-ranking ski school programs in the country. That doesn't mean that we're ONLY a beginner's area. In fact, beginner terrain is only 9% of our mountain. Intermediate and advanced terrain comprises 37 and 54 percent, respectively. 3% of the mountain is expert only.

Misperception #3 - There's no night life/après ski activities in Winter Park.

The Truth - Because Winter Park has a small town atmosphere, some people think there's nothing to do when you get off the slopes. That's simply not true. For people wanting food and drink, Winter Park has over 50 bars and restaurants. There's live music, dancing, relaxed martini bars, and everything in between. For others still looking for a bit more action, the Fraser Tubing Hill is open until 10PM for more snow sliding excitement. And then of course, there's night snowmobiling… You get the picture.

    Top 5 Selling Points:

    1. Snow - Winter Park consistently receives the most snow in Colorado. That means deep, dependable snow throughout the season.

    2. Size - Winter Park is one of the largest resorts in Colorado with over 2,886 skiable acres. That means no skiing the same run day after day.

    3. Atmosphere - Winter Park has a small-town relaxed atmosphere. The locals are friendly and so are the visitors. No snobs allowed.

    4. Location - Winter Park is the closest major resort to Denver. Access is quick, easy, and the views when driving over the Continental Divide are beautiful.

    5. Price - Winter Park is one of the best values in ski vacations. Compare our prices against our competitors and you'll see that our customers get a lot of "bang for their buck."

    Best Resort Client:

The best client for this resort is someone who wants great terrain, deep snow, a relaxed atmosphere, and a great value. Our customers are snow enthusiasts that love to have fun, both on and off the slope. They like the quiet atmosphere of the town and the great variety of things to do. Our customers don't own jewelry that costs more than most people's homes.
