  • General Information - As provided by the resort:

    Air Service to Resort:

Your ultimate ski vacation is closer than you think!

Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) is only 11 miles from town, and is served daily with nonstop flights from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Denver, and others.

    Other Transportation Options:

Passenger trains on Amtrak's beautiful Empire Builder route arrive at the historical Whitefish Depot daily from Seattle, Portland, and Spokane, as well as from Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Whitefish makes a beautiful drive from almost anywhere. Here are some average drive times:

    - Fernie, British Columbia -- 1.5 hours
    - Missoula, Montana -- 3 hours
    - Lethbridge, Alberta -- 3 hours
    - Great Falls, Montana -- 4 hours
    - Spokane, Washington -- 5 hours
    - Calgary, Alberta -- 5.5 hours
    - Seattle, Washington -- 9 hours

    Common Misperceptions:

Hard to get to - Not even close. Glacier Park International is the closest international airport to a major ski resort in the US! And 55,000 passengers per year get off and on the train at the Historic Whitefish Depot.

Wet, Northwestern snow - Wrong again. Whitefish is in the Rocky Mountains. And that means more than 300" of light, Rocky Mountain snow every year.

Big and Scary - Nope. Whitefish's summit elevation is less than 7,000', which means no altitude sickness in your group. And we sport over 50% intermediate runs.

    Top 5 Selling Points:

    1. Friendly, Laid-Back, and Unpretentious -- whether you're talking about the atmosphere or the people you'll run into, Whitefish is a shining example of small-town, Montana hospitality

    2. One of America's largest ski resorts -- over 3,000 in-bounds, lift-served acres, plus limitless back-country opportunities

    3. More acres per skier than any other major ski resort -- by a large margin!

    4. One 7 1/2 minute lift ride from the village to the summit and 360 degrees of terrain, and you won't wait in line for it.

    5. The best views anywhere -- spectacular vistas of Glacier National Park and the Northern Rocky Mountains, the amazing Flathead Valley, and Whitefish Lake

    Best Resort Client:

If you've skied "America's best resorts" and wished you could magically get there an hour before everyone else so you had room to breathe, you've been wishing for Whitefish.

If you've skied mountains that were skewed toward beginners or experts and wished everyone in your group, regardless of age and ability, could stay close together and still have fun, you've been yearning to ski Whitefish.

And if you've found the "towns" at most ski resorts to be lacking a soul, that's because they are. You've been looking for a place with a ski resort that grew out of a real town, not a town that was built to support a resort. And that place is Whitefish.

    Recommendations / Highlights:

Montana's best slice of pizza at Mackenzie River Pizza Co. -- The Base Lodge and downtown Whitefish
Award-winning cuisine and wine list -- Kandahar Cafe in the Mountain Village
America's best ski bar -- The Bierstube in the Mountain Village
America's best view -- the summit
The Base Lodge -- $10.7 million worth of conveniences in one place

    Other Activities:

Whitefish Mountain Resort offers more than its 3,000 acres of Rocky Mountain skiing. Take part in the exhilarating tradition of night-skiing under the lights of 3 different lifts, schedule a guided back-country cat skiing expedition, take a ski or snowshoe trek into Glacier National Park, let the musher do the work on a dog sled ride, zip along miles of snowmobile trails, or take your family ice skating.

And when you're done with that, sample a live performance at one of Whitefish's two theaters. Take your pick of several award-winning restaurants, see some great live music, and sample a local beer.

When you're ready for a rest, take a day at our state-of-the-art indoor aquatics and health center, browse a spectacular selection of local shopping, and indulge yourself in relaxation at one of many professional spa facilities.

If you can imagine your perfect vacation, you can find it in Whitefish.
