Ski Taos

Famed steeps and groomed cruisers are devoid of crowds. Lift lines are rare. Snowboarders are conspicuously absent. And our village retains an intimacy reminiscent of villages in founder Ernie Blake's beloved Swiss homeland.

Taos has more than just skiing to offer. Go for a snowmobile tour above 12,000 feet in some of the most picturesque scenery you will ever see. Explore the natural hot springs or spoil yourself at one of the area spas. Your trip isn't complete without a hot-air balloon ride over the Rio Grande Gorge.

    Recommendations / Highlights:

If you are looking for a taste of New Mexican food, Orlando's New Mexican Cafe is a must.

If you are looking for great beer on the deck in the ski valley, the Bavarian located by lift 4 is beautiful.

Dinner in Taos Ski Valley if you can get in is the St. Bernard all the way. Declicous European cuisine served by owner (and technical ski school director) Jean Mayer.

    Other Activities:

Snowmobiling with Big Al Snowmobile tours. All year round horseback riding. Tour the 1,000 year old Taos Pueblo (longest continuely inhabited structure in the country). See the Rio Grande Gorge (like a mini Grand Canyon).

Why This Resort is Special or Unique:

Taos is not your typical resort town. The mix of European influence in the ski valley and Southwestern culture in the Town of Taos ensures a worldly experience. Taos is also a ski only resort. It is what skiing used to be.
