Other Transportation Options: Shuttle transportation is available from the Ogden Valley, downtown Ogden, Park City and Deer Valley lodging properties. Common Misperceptions: SNOWBASIN IS FAR AWAY FROM OTHER UTAH RESORTS. Snowbasin is only 40 minutes from Salt Lake International airport and 50 minutes from Park City on well-maintained highways. When the Salt Lake area canyons are closed, guests can still get to Snowbasin. SNOWBASIN IS FAR FROM LODGING PROPERTIES. Lakeside Resort Properties is 10 minutes away, and other Ogden Valley condos and Ogden hotels are less than a half hour away with shuttle service to the resort. Layton hotels are only 15 minutes from the Salt Lake airport and 25 minutes to Snowbasin. Top 5 Selling Points: Two gondolas that go from the base to the top and serve most of the mountain. Wide-open runs and rarely a lift line. World class dining in elegant mountaintop lodges. 3,000 skiable acres and 3,000 vertical feet of varied terrain. Easy lot-to-lift access. Best Resort Client: Snowbasin is good for individuals, groups and families. Skiers who like a challenge will love the easy access to mountaintop chutes, powder bowls and gladed runs, and they will discover powder stashes days after a storm. Groups will appreciate the variety of terrain, the guided mountain tours, and they will enjoy gathering in one of the mountaintop lodges for great views and fine dining. Families will appreciate the gondolas, terrain parks and the Grizzly Center with equipment rental, private and group lessons and licensed day care. Recommendations / Highlights: Enjoy an authentic, hand-prepared Italian meal in the John Paul Lodge. Take a picture of the Great Salt Lake from the top of the mountain. Ski three non-stop miles on Elk Ridge run. Ride the Dew Tour half pipe. Pay a visit to Utah's oldest bar in nearby Huntsville. What's New This Year: Snowbasin is hosting the Dew Tour Winter Games in February, which includes an 18 foot half-pipe and slopestyle features and jumps. Why This Resort is Special or Unique: Snowbasin is often recognized as the finest day ski area in North America. During a 2002 Olympic expansion, the skiable terrain nearly doubled, five lodges were built in four different locations, world-class chefs were hired, a massive snowmaking system was installed, and two gondolas, a high-speed quad and a tram were added to provide single-ride access to mountaintop summits. The terrain is fun, the slopes are uncrowded, the lodges are spectacular, the food is world-class, and the service is first-rate - not bad for day ski area!
