Ski Salt Lake

Imagine having breakfast in New York or Houston and then riding or carving turns on Salt Lake's world-class ski slopes all afternoon. With the Salt Lake resorts' proximity to the Salt Lake City International Airport, it's not only possible, it's become commonplace for thousands of skiers who have discovered it's easier to ski Salt Lake than just about anywhere in the country. Add the resorts' legendary light powder snow, and Salt Lake is the ultimate skiers' fantasy.

Unlike skiers in other cities with up to four hours' drive time to the slopes, Salt Lake skiers have access to 7,500 skiable acres at Alta, Brighton, Snowbird, and Solitude within less than an hour's drive from the airport, and just a half-hour from downtown.

Lauderdale, Florida.

    Other Transportation Options:

Unlimited day passes for UTA's light-rail and bus system cost $6 or its free with the Ski Salt Lake Super Pass.

    Common Misperceptions:

You can't get a drink in Salt Lake, so forget having a good time once the mountain shuts down. This couldn't be further from the truth. With over 500 watering holes located in Salt Lake (including over 300 in the downtown area and more than 30 at the resorts themselves), it's hard to imagine NOT finding a place to enjoy a cold one.

A city with lots to do can't really be that close to mountains that receive THAT much snow. Call it luck, nature, whatever you want, the Wasatch Front and Ski Salt Lake's resorts are blessed with an abundance of snow that really is less than 30-45 minutes from city hotels. Ski in the day, dine with the locals by night and when you are through catch a NBA game at Salt Lake's Delta Center, home to the Utah Jazz. You'll be wondering how you had enough time to ski when you get done with this place.

    Top 5 Selling Points:

Proximity - Hard to beat flying in from either coast in the morning and still getting to ski the entire afternoon. It's possible, and very easy, with Salt Lake's close proximity to its airport and four resorts.

Greatest Snow on Earth - 500 inches of the lightest, fluffiest snow you could ever find, and that's just our average.

Choices - Four resorts, at your fingertips, with one pass. The hardest part about your vacation will be deciding which resort you want to ski each day.

More choices - Looking for the most affordable hotel you can find, DONE. Looking for the most luxurious hotel you can find, DONE. Looking for something in between, DONE. With over 17,000 hotel rooms, it's all up to you and your budget.

Skiing for everyone - Once again, it's not a bad thing to have 4 resorts with over 7,500 acres and over 300 runs to choose from. What this means is no matter what your ability, there are loads of runs that will match your skill level.

    Best Resort Client:

Families love Salt Lake for its options, relaxation, and ability to offer as much quality time as you can find. Remember those flights from either coast and short drive up the mountain. Throw in numerous attractions, shopping, an NBA team, an AFL (Arena Football League) team and what you get is family friendly destination that's fun for mom, dad, and the kids.

    Other Activities:

Backcountry skiing & snowboarding, Cross Country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, fly-fishing, ATV riding, horseback riding, massage & spa services, shopping, museums, gardens, movies, educational experiences, professional basketball, baseball, football and hockey, and just a day's drive from 14 national parks and monuments.

    What's New This Year:

Snowbird - Peruvian Chairlift and Tunnel: By fall of 2006, Snowbird's original Peruvian lift will be taken out and replaced with a new high-speed quad.

While the base will stay near the original base shack, the top station will be located below the steepest Chip's Run pitch, an approximately 2,600-vertical-foot rise. At the top of the lift, a 595-foot tunnel with a conveyor lift will provide access to Mineral Basin. The expected completion date of the Peruvian Gulch project is fall of 2006.
