    What's New This Year:

In addition to run enhancements and glade widening, the biggest news last season at Kimberley Alpine Resort was the commencement of a 24,000 sq ft Conference & Athletic Training Centre being constructed directly at the ski base. The centre is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2010 and will be open for operation when the ski season commences at Kimberley Alpine Resort.

    On-Mountain

    - With the final stages of the Kimberley Conference & Athletic Training Centre (www.meetkimberley.ca) being completed, this $6-million, 24,000 sq ft, fully accessible conference centre will be the largest conference facility in Eastern British Columbia. It is located directly at the ski base, metres away from the North Star Express chairlift at Kimberley Alpine Resort. The resort owner and operator, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR), is a major contributor to the project alongside Columbia Basin Trust and the City of Kimberley with additional support from both federal and provincial infrastructure grants. Designed to exceed BC energy efficiency standards by more than 30%, and constructed entirely of local BC timber, this eco-friendly, multi-use conference and meeting space will facilitate up to 500 people (theatre-style seating) or 350 people (banquet style) and will be used as a year-round venue. The building will have 4 breakout meeting rooms, office space, and the latest in information and communication technology capabilities.

The athlete training facilities will include:

    - Accessible fitness centre
    - Change rooms & wax room
    - Large pre-function area

    - Enhancements to North America's Largest Gladed Ski Terrain, including the infamous Black Forest, can be noted as the largest glading project in Canada. New glades have been created in the Black Forest between Windfall & Tramway as well as between Twist and Geneva. Ultimately, this will make more skiable terrain accessible in Kimberley Alpine Resort's gladed areas, creating more skiing fun.

    - Upgrades have been made to Trickle Creek Lodge including: exterior painting, and all suites have new flat screen TVs and bed linens.

    Activities & Events

    - Though introduced for the first time last season, the night skiing pass debuts its new name this season: the Nightrider Pass. Skiers & snowboarders can enjoy unlimited fun on North America's longest night skiing trail. This pass was incredibly popular last year and in fact, inspired an evening rail jam series that many youth took part in. The night skiing opportunity at Kimberley Alpine Resort provides a positive environment for youth and family evening activity.

    - Newbie Pack: Introduce a new skier to the sport and we will reward you! $99 includes lift ticket for you and a TELUS Learn to Ski package for your Newbie!

    In & Around Town

    - A new flight schedule from Air Canada now makes it easier than ever to ski Kimberley Alpine Resort from Australia. The adjusted schedule will now allow for a quick connection in Vancouver from Air Canada Flight AC34 (SYD-YVR) to Air Canada Flight AC8213 (YVR-YXC) for easy access directly into the Canadian Rockies International Airport in Cranbrook.

Why This Resort is Special or Unique:

Kimberley is a mining town turning to Resort destination. Lots of history. The "Platzl" in downtown Kimberley is a pedestrian shopping and restaurant area with a Bavarian/Alpine theme.

    Great "true" local charm!
