Ski Big Sky

Montana is know for it's vast, beautiful landscapes and at Big Sky Resort, there's no exception. World-class skiing and ridging is spread across three interconnected mountains with more than 150 trails and 400 inches of annual snowfall. With two terrain parks, a half-pipe and the Lone Peak Tram whisking skiers and riders to 11,150 ft, Big Sky is the choice of many winter enthusiasts from around the globe. For those looking for even more, Big Sky has partnered with neighbor Moonlight Basin to offer a joint lift ticket. The Lone Peak Pass allows skier and boarders access to America's Biggest Skiing with 5,512 acres.

And when you're not skiing or riding the "cold smoke", the Big Sky area offers plenty of winter activities like snowmobiling, and wildlife viewing in Yellowstone National Park, snowshoeing, sleigh ride dinners, ice skating, free childrens activities, zipline, or relax with a spa treatment.

    Common Misperceptions:

Big Sky is hard to get to. Wrong. With at least 20 flights a day on Northwest, Horizon, Delta, Big Sky Air and United / United Express, there are plenty of options and flights. We are only 45 miles from the airport and it's a beautiful drive. Ground transportation is plenty with coaches, taxis, and rental cars.

Big Sky has nothing to do when the slopes close. This has been a problem in the past, and something Big Sky Resort is working very hard to address. Each day there are free apres ski children's activities, ranging from roasting s'mores by the campfire to Search and Rescue Dog Demonstrations. There's an ice skating rink outside of the Summit hotel, snowshoe trails on the mountain, and the nightly entertainment of the Crazy Austrian Brothers, suitable for the whole family. The resort also offers a wide array of special events from a rail jam to our Dummy Jump, to the end of season pond skim. Chet's Bar and Grill hosts live poker and gaming machines, live music on the weekendsand a pool table. The Carabiner Lounge has daily apres music as well as live music nightly on the weekends. The local bars all host live music on different nights throughout the week

    What's New:

Big Sky Resort introduces a Zip Line! Ski to the line and Zip through the majestic Lone Peak. The Zip line is a two hour tour, reaching speeds up to 25 mph and 30-60 ft in the air. Guests will not forget this unique experience.

Why This Resort is Special or Unique:

The scenery. From the top of the tram you can see two national parks (Yellowstone and Grand Teton), and three mountain ranges (Tobacco Roots, Taylor-Hilgard, Spanish Peaks). When you're exploring the rest of Big Sky, at a lower elevation, there's lots of wildlife. Herds of elk and deer and a moose or two are common sightings on the way up to the mountain. Big horn sheep like to congregate on the roadside down by the Conoco gas station. The rivers are filled with cutthroat trout and the occasional trumpeter swan. Being so close to Yellowstone Park, Big Sky is unique in its abundance of wildlife.

The lack of crowds. Montana in general has a romantic, mysterious quality. Big Sky shares in that. Our trails and lifts are uncrowded and you don't get the hustle and bustle feeling of other popular resorts. There's a general laid-back attitude with Western hospitality. When we say "a place all your own", we mean it.
